Surgical technologists provide patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans Bold'\">About the Program<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans'\">The Associate Degree in Surgical Technology program prepares students for employment as surgical technologists. Program graduates are prepared to take the National Certification Exam and will be qualified for employment in many aspects of the healthcare industry including operating rooms, emergency rooms, labor and delivery, GI and catheterization labs, ambulatory surgery centers, sterile supply, private physicians offices and other areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans Bold'\">Surgical technologist<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans'\">The medical field is rapidly growing as the population ages, and changing with each new technological breakthrough. Surgical technologists are at the forefront of these advances, working in a variety of clinical and hospital settings. Attention to detail, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and the ability to work well with others are all characteristics of a good surgical technologist.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans Bold'\">Who is a good fit?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans'\">Surgical technologists should have excellent hand-eye coordination, effective communication skills, an affinity for detail, and the ability to function well in stressful situations. Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, surgical instrumentation, supplies and procedures allows the surgical technologist to function as an integral member of the surgical team.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans Bold'\">Education<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans'\">Surgical technologists earn certificates or associate\u2019s degrees to enter the healthcare field. Students learn in both classroom and clinical settings under the supervision of professionals.
